INSIDE NYAYO TORTURE CHAMBERS

Image
The journey to the second liberation of Kenya was not a walk in the park.  People suffered. Liberators were anguished. Freedom fighters were treated callously and most of them have remained with physical injuries to date. Here are some of the activities that took place inside this torture room that was used to silence any government critique in the 80s.  Stripped Cross-examination After an arrest and taken into the room for examination, the victim was interrogated by the servicemen while naked. During the interrogation, the officers would inflict pain on any part of the body when the victim refused to cooperate. Murky Chambers Poorly lit. No lights. The victims were subjected to several days and months of darkness that some came out visually impaired. This also kept secret the identities of the torture officers whom, to date   have known names but nobody can recognize them. Nobody has their images and nobody can even explain their physical appearances. Water Tortu

DELEGATE SYSTEM; A CLIPPER TO CAMPUS POLITICS

Image
On Friday the 16th December, 2016 at 11.32am is when comrades power was stifled. The exact voice of comrades was throttled. The much efficacious campus politics were tamed and campus politics will never nurture national leaders again. The universities ammendment Act 2016 that directed for Delegate system in electing versify student leaders will forever silence the voices of the majority and ensure that vibrant leaders doesn't lead the students. The first suspicious provision of this ammenent, that is now a law, says that every students council membership shall reflect national diversity and shall not have two-thirds of the same gender. How do you ensure this in a Democratic space? The fact that the National Assembly has been defeated to obey the two thirds gender rule means that it is impossible when democratic elections are held. It is only applicable where appoinnts are done. What will happen when the delegates elect an SGC of the same gender? There is a high possibility t

THE OTHER SIDE OF RAILA ODINGA

Image
Known as the peoples president. An enigma. The father of Kenyan Democracy. Raila Amolo Odinga, the son of Oginga and Mary Ajuma. He has had the most humiliating moments in Kenyan politics since independence. His efforts for good governance has never paid off. He keeps pressing on but what exactly is Raila Odinga made of? What are his proficiencies and inanities? As seen in his unending career, Odinga and other notable elites ensured that Kenya regains multy party democracy in 1991 through dangerous street protests and riots that ensured that Moi gives in to the peoples demands. Devolution that has ensured that development is spread all over regions in Kenya was originally Odinga's idea. It was first crafted in ODM manifesto in 2007 when he promised that he would deliver a new constitution during his tenure. This became a reality in 2010 with the inauguration of the new constitution though under a coalition government.  Apart from these it is Raila who has unearthed several hug

WHO PULLED THE TRIGGAR?

Image
The country moarns. Communities grief and a national morning day declared. Children remain orphans and young ladies become widows all over sudden. People perceive dark days ahead. But man is so airheaded, amnemonic and amnesic. These are some Kenyan Great personalities who died by gun and justice has gone unserved to date. 1. THOMAS JOSEPH MBOYA Its a Saturday, the 5th day of July 1969. Just 6 years after the country gains self governance. An icon, a bright Kenyan, Kenyan trade unionist, educationist, Pan Africanist, author, independence activist, Cabinet Minister is short dead by alleged one Nahashon Isaac Njenga Njoroge who disappeared thereafter. It intensified ethnic rivalry in the 90s but here we are now. Nobody to ask who exactly was the "big man" Njoroge talked about. 2. GEORGE MUCHAI Just two years after being elected as the Member of parliament for Kabete, the body of Muchai was found dead inside his car together with his two bodyguards and a driver

A UNIVERSITY OF OUR TIME

Image
Universities as established in the 6th century were ment to be the apex of any educational system. They were to be producers of knowledge but not consumers of knowledge. In Kenya, each pioneer university was established with specific goals and objectives that when achieved, would be helpful to the country. However the expansion of university education to reduce wastage rate at form four has done ravage than good. Today, most universities have produced several incompetent graduates. Half baked. Naive graduates who cannot apply the skills that they were taught. Universities are consumers of knowledge. Fake professors who are good only at quoting other scholars yet they do no research and write no papers to contribute in the scholarly world. Universities are making no innovations. We have roadside universities offering fake degree programmes. They have no facilities to offer the intended courses and they are only systems of money making. They lure students with decorated names an

THE SILENT RIGHT OF AN UNBORN FOETUS

Image
THE SILENT RIGHT OF AN UNBORN FOETUS . The basic form of injustice in our society today is abortion. Apart from being the cruelest act a woman can do, it’s quite an injustice to the most innocent and helpless creature. In all our communities, we believe that life begins at conception and therefore procuring an abortion is no less than a murder to someone with no mistake, pure, vulnerable and blameless. Abortion can be allowed on medical grounds but unfortunately this does not form the main reason why our ladies do it today. The vague excuses given include unpreparedness to be a mother and wrong pieces o f advice from couples, friends and relatives. Most ladies abort because either they are in conflict with themselves or with the man who made them pregnant. With this, a lady would continue to procure an abortion without thinking of the risks, and effects that would follow. A woman guilty of murder especially of an innocent unborn child can never hide her recreates, shame

DANGEROUS COMPONENTS OF A SHISHA SMOKE

Image
With the ban imposed on Shisha manufacture, sale and use in Kenya, debates have come up on the exact dangers that shisha users are exposed to. However Medics have confined some of the highly dangerous components of Shisha that are so harmful to human body. They are; 1. CARBON MONOXIDE .  This is produced by the charcoal burnt from the shisha pot. It is a silent killer that when inhaled, it replaces oxygen in the blood hence killing cells and denying important organs of the body access to oxygen. Carbon monoxide can also lead to brain damage, heart problems and major organ dysfunction. 2. NICOTINE . It is produced by the burning tobacco. It is the largest component of tobacco and it is responsible for addiction. When taken in large quantities it reduces immune response and poses negative impacts on the reproductive health. It also affects the cell proliferation, oxidative stress, apoptosis, DNA mutation by various mechanisms which leads to cancer. 3. COBALT METALS . It ha

AFRICAN INDEPENDENCE POLITICAL PARTIES THAT RULE TO DATE.

Image
One of the pleasant things that came with independence in most African countries in early 90s was multy party democracy. Since independence, most African countries have have advanced in terms of democratic elections which involve several political parties. However, there are some political parties that as much as they are the pioneer political parties they have continued to dominate the political scenes in their nations. They include; 1. The African National Congress (ANC) This is the Republic of South Africa's political party that led the country to independence in 1994. The party was founded in 1912 by John Dube and Pixley ka Isaka Seme. It is currently headed by Cyril Ramaphosa who is expected to succeed Jacob Zouma in the next general elections. 2. The Mozambique Liberation Front (FRELIMO It was founded in 1962 by Eduardo Mondlane and Samora Machel who led the country into independence in 1975. The party has formulated the government since then to date. It is currently h

HOW TO IDENTIFY A FRAUDULENT PREACHER

Image
The signs of eschatolgy are here with us and there is every reason for to identify this time as end times as prophesized by John. Out of the many signs we see, there is the emergence of the fake preachers who are out to exploit unconscious congregation. These are the characteristics of these men and women who have turned the Lord's house into a den of thieves, robbers and conmen. 1. GOSPEL OF PROSPERITY. These smart preachers will emphasize how prosperous you should be. How successful you should be. Year come year go they will always tell you its your year. But listen, why can't they tell you to repent your sins first? Why can't they tell you to turn away from sin and prepare for the second coming of Christ? Furthermore, they promise worldly wealth like big cars and jobs which all Christians know that is all vanity. 2. BIZZARE RITUALS Unexplainable rituals, odd symbols and funny actions. You're not allowed to question because the spirits have said. You're

THE ORIGIN OF HIV

Image
THE ORIGIN OF HIV The first human to be diahnosed with HIV virus was from Democratic Republic of Congo (Kinsasha) in 1959. From from that year, the virus has continued to spread throughout the world population. Today, it is approximated that 36.7 million people are living with AIDS. Researchers have come up with various theories concerning the origin of HIV virus. The first theory is that HIV originated from Chimpanzees from West Equatorial Africa. It is believed that Man got exposed to the                                             virus when hunters from these region got exposed to                                              infected blood of the primates. Another theory came up in 1987 and it stated that HIV might have been caused by mass vaccination of smallpox. This theory states that HIV virus was deliberately contaminated with lab manufactured virus  so that it would spread to mass population. Similar theories include that of Hepatitis B vaccination and Oral Polio
