DELEGATE SYSTEM; A CLIPPER TO CAMPUS POLITICS

On Friday the 16th December, 2016 at 11.32am is when comrades power was stifled. The exact voice of comrades was throttled. The much efficacious campus politics were tamed and campus politics will never nurture national leaders again.
The universities ammendment Act 2016 that directed for Delegate system in electing versify student leaders will forever silence the voices of the majority and ensure that vibrant leaders doesn't lead the students.

The first suspicious provision of this ammenent, that is now a law, says that every students council membership shall reflect national diversity and shall not have two-thirds of the same gender. How do you ensure this in a Democratic space?

The fact that the National Assembly has been defeated to obey the two thirds gender rule means that it is impossible when democratic elections are held. It is only applicable where appoinnts are done. What will happen when the delegates elect an SGC of the same gender? There is a high possibility that  someone will chip in and convince them in a way in order to comply with the rule.


The SGC members will never be popular. They will not be known. They won't be accountable to the comrades they represent. A council member will concentrate on the delegate who elected him. They will look on how to reimburse for the few votes instead of working for the people they represent.

The final bit of it States every students association in consultation with the university shall formulate and enact rules that regulate campaigns, election financing, offences and penalties. This power has been misused, being misused and will be misused. Candidates being fined and disqualified for no propper reasons. It is an opportunity for The SEC to make money and also be used by the university to disqualify leaders with comrades interest at heart.

Most leaders in the national podium were nurtured by university politics. In the 80s, university students had a voice in national politics. But it is clear that this has come to an end. The SGC is going to breed a group of smart but corrupt people. Sycophants and cowards.
