POLITICIANS ARE MISUSING COMRADES POWER
As MUSO election are looming, Politicians around are already up on their feet to seek recognition. They are always in the forefront in doing anything for their selfish interests. These politicians are taking advantage of comrades’ situations and campus events to seek a political platform.
After inciting us to fight last year, these people are out once again to cause tribulations so that their influence can be felt amongst the comrades. Unfortunately, they are using comrades’ power to pursue their personal interests.
When the schools of Education and Arts and Social Sciences were out demanding for their marks last month, it was purely a peaceful demonstration for academic reasons. However, we saw them take over the peaceful demonstration and changed the subject from academic to political.
We watched as they denied the MUESA and SASS officials to address the crowd at the student centre. We saw them disorganize the DVC and Admin envoy several time, and finally at the administration block, they went ahead to speak irrelevant things.
The recent tension and unrest within the campus again have been caused by these power hungry lads. After the Friday demo that led to the arrest of several comrades, it would be just to stage another demo to pressure for their release. But after they were released on Saturday the demo became invalid. Unfortunately, these people went ahead to cause tension on Tuesday morning wanting to demonstrate for unknown reasons. Normal class program was paralyzed because of this.
I feel that its time these people should stop misleading comrades. The power to demonstrate should be used appropriately for more important issues and the subject of the demo must be maintained.
Peace is cheap. Let’s maintain peace and ignore the radical politicians seeking recognition through harmful ways because the effects will be to us all. As much as they pretend to help us, the truth is that they are simply mobilizing us to recognize them.
In as much as we all wait with baited breathe for the forthcoming elections, we cannot help but ask for sane leaders. It is about time we knew when and why to demonstrate. Let us not act on ulterior motives perpetuated by a cocoon of individuals that would otherwise be compared to the vultures. Yes, we are all well aware that behind every leader there are a few goons, but my ten dollar question is: are some of these leaders worth breaking our bones for? Are some of them worth shedding tear gas tears for?
With one accord let us call for peace!!!
